Tutorial 02 - Map & GPS (v2.9)

At the first time, the zMap will request the authority for GPS access.  Click “OK” to allow or click “Don’t allow” to denied. (You can allow it  later at iOS system setting page.)

The Online Google Map with cache is available which will store the map tiles when internet connection is available and store it in the cache.




  


2  To view the offline map, just select it and the map screen will be shown. It may take several minutes for analysis the new map. (For large map tiles map in Galileo, RMaps, Big Planet & Osmand format, it will spend long time to analysis, you can pre-process the file at the computer first, please read the “tutorial 7 – Read large Map Tiles File” for further information.)

The map will be shown at your last visited location and zoom level. If your last visited location is out of the range of the map, the system will ask you to choose go back last visited location or the default location of the map.

To delete the map by swipe from right to left then press the “Delete” button.

The zMap setting button is located at the right bottom of the screen for detail settings.

 At “Map” page, you can zoom in/out by pinch-in/out gesture or double tap. Rotate the map by rotation gesture and top-left compass will indicate the map orientation.

you can resume the map orientation to north by press the compass icon





To change distance unit go to Setting>Map>Distance Unit





     
You can disable the rotation and hide the compass at the Setting>Map>Rotation Gesture





6   Press “GPS&Compass” button to activate the GPS function.
Press “GPS&Compass” again will activate compass function and one more press will stop these functions.


               

You can choose different Compass Heading options in the “Settings>Map>Heading” page.


For some area (e.g. China..) the GPS offset problem is fix but if you get any GPS issues that previous version doesn't have please disable the GPS signal offset at Setting>Map>GPS Signal Offset


If you are using the offline map which is not download by zMap and the map source is OpenStreetMap or MapQuest, you will need to enable Tiles Offset at Setting>Map>Tiles Offset and disable for other map source





The GPS will keep on even you move the map or search bookmark and the red "center" button will be shown. Press it then the GPS point will resumes to center of the screen again.



There is a option which can integrate the GPS and Target button, go to Setting>Map>Integrate GPS and Target Button and select "Integrate"





7   If “Location Service Disabled” warning pop up, it means the GPS access is disabled, please go to iOS system “Settings>Location Services” to enable it.




For iOS6, the system setting of GPS is changed to General>Privacy>Location

If the “GPS or Compass Interference” screen shows up, it means GPS or compass signal of your devices is under bad condition.

Online Map will have the same operation but there are more options in “Settings>Map”. The “System” language option means the system language of your iOS device.

The online map cache will store the map tiles and available at offline situation. You can check the cache size by press “Check Size” and “Reset Cache” to clear the cache.

Change the map source at “Setting>Map>Map Source”

The Cache Data Mode is new feature for version 2.2, the user can choose two modes for Data Download.
·      Latest Data (Internet >Cache) – If the internet data is available, download internet data first, else use the Cache Data
·      Data saving (Cache) > Internet) – Use Cache Data first, else check and download map tile from internet.

The Auto Screen Lock feature, allow user to disable the iOS system Auto-Lock when selected “Enable”, the zMap will just follow the system Auto-Lock option of your iOS device.

You can exclude iTunes backup your "iTunes share folder" by "iTunes/iCloud Backup" in setting page
